To inform politicians, consumers and future cannabis entrepreneurs about professional cannabis production, the Dutch organisation CannaPro is producing a series about the Dutch cannabis industry. In every episode a Dutch legal cannabis production company is portrayed. The CEO, the genetics specialist, the cultivation manager, the hash maker, the processing room- and the business manager explain how they produce high quality products for the consumer market. The first company that is portrayed is the organic cannabis producer Aardachtig in Almere.
After five years of preparations, the so called Dutch cannabis experiment started on the 7th of April 2025. The aim of the experiment is to investigate whether regulated production, distribution and sale of cannabis is possible in the Netherlands. A research team, supervised by an independent Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, is investigating the effects of this on crime, safety and public health. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority is monitoring the quality of the products.
