The French Dutch shallot dispute

French shallot farmers started a trial against Dutch producers of shallot seeds, and lost it. In France it is obliged to grow shallots directly from shallots. Since the Dutch developed shallot seeds the French farmers tried to ban the development and production shallot seeds. After the Dutch seeds producer won the court case, the judge also decided the Dutch should have a say about the matter on French TV.

A crew from the news program form the French first TV channel TF1 travel to the Netherlands for a reportage about the development and production of shallot seeds.

The managing director of the world market leader in developing union seeds De Groot en Slot give an interview and shows the Tf1 reporter and cameraman around in the company. The technical manager of Bejo Seeds of the seed company gives a tour through the company and the laboratory and a Dutch shallot farmer takes the crew around on his farm and over his shallot fields.
