After it becomes clear that Switzerland has to reorganise its health care system because the system does not have the incentives to save money, reporter Reto Gerber from the economic program Eco from the Swiss public TV channel Schweizer Fernsehen, travels to the Netherlands to see how the Dutch organised health care and what the Swiss can learn from it.
Reto meets and interviews a member of the Dutch Health Care Insurance Board, a family doctor and a retired Swiss surgeon living in Amsterdam. He finishes his research at the Orbis Medical Center in Sittard-Geleen in the south of the Netherlands, a huge new hospital where all kind of innovations are implemented.
The hospital looks like a hotel, is almost totally paper free and Swiss robot cars move around medicines and food. Every patient has its own room where a family member can sleep as well. Everything in the room can be operated from a touch screen.
All the none medical services are done by differently dressed ‘hotel’ personnel and the doctors, surgeons and nurses work together in a huge open office.
For this reportage Featurez gave advice, did the research, set-up and planning of the filming, booked a cameraman and accompanied the filming.
