The German chemical company Bayer is laying a pipe line for CO2 in Germany. CO2 (carbon dioxide ) is used for the fabrication of plastics and it is highly toxic. Often the Bayer pipeline CO2 only passes by at a few meters of houses. So inhabitants ask themselves how unsafe the transport of CO2 actually is?
The political program Monitor from the German public TV channel ARD, wants to find out how the Dutch placed and manage a CO2 pipeline from the Rotterdam to the Antwerp harbour. The CO2 pipeline is placed in a special so called underground 100 meters wide- pipeline street together with many other pipelines and cables.
On location the director of the pipeline street in the Netherlands explains why the Dutch created this pipeline street and how save the transport of CO2 is. Besides the Dutch CO2 pipeline there is practically no housing.
