Old people’s home for gays

Although homosexuality is very accepted in Holland and Amsterdam is seen as the gay capital of Europe, it is still a taboo in old people’s homes. Elderly homosexuals fear the moment they will need care. An ordinary nursing home in Amsterdam established the L.A. Ries home, the first ‘old people’s gay-wing’ of the world.

For the program Europamagazin from the German first public TV channel ARD, Europe correspondent Edeltraud Remmel makes a reportage about the L.A. Ries home, interviewing different gay inhabitants and a spokesperson from the L.A. Ries Foundation that initiated the old people s home for gays.

For this reportage Featurez proposed the story idea, did the research, set-up and planning, accompanied the filming and organised the music for the reportage.
