The Austrian public TV program ORF Weltjournal is planning a background reportage about the Loverboy phenomena and wants to know what the actual situation is in The Netherlands.
Loverboy or teenage pimp is a pimp who pimps girls through seduction tactics to eventually exploit them in prostitution or in (other) illegal activities. Human traffickers and pimps around the world often use romantic manipulation to get or keep women and girls into prostitution.
In the Netherlands and Belgium, the term loverboy (literally: lover-boy, young lover) became common for this purpose around 2000. Later, the term also caught on in Germany.
