During the winter Olympics the Dutch female skaters missed out on victory in the team pursuit and had to acknowledge their superiority to the Japanese women’s team.
The final was unusually exciting. After the first two laps, the Orange trio was about two tenths behind, but halfway through the race the Netherlands took a gap of half a second. In the final round, Japan made a better final sprint. Miho Takagi, Nana Takagi and Ayano Sato finished 1.58 before the Netherlands. Despite a record race, The Dutch team had to settle for silver.
