Free heroine for problematic drug addicts

After long talks and a lot of research the Netherlands will finally start a small experiment in giving free heroine to problematic drug addicts. Apart from this the cities Rotterdam and The Hague habe set up so called living rooms for hard drugs addicts, where they can find some shelter and have the possibility to use their dope.

A final report of the Central Committee for the Treatment of Heroin Addicts (CCBH), which developed and implemented this project, was published. The CCBH found that controlled treatment with heroin in combination with methadone was more effective than continuing treatment with methadone alone. Groups receiving both heroin and methadone showed the best results. There was an improvement in health and social functioning and a sharp reduction in time spent on illicit activities.

The reportage program Tagesthemen from the German first public TV broadcaster wants to report about the experiment.

For this production Featurez proposed the idea for the story, gave advice, did the research and the set-up and planning of the filming
