Euthanasia for dementia patients

It is legal for people suffering from dementia to get euthanasia under very strict conditions. The Dutch board of Attorney Generals decided to stop prosecuting a doctor who helped a patient with Alzheimer disease with suicide.

The board stated that Alzheimer itself is not an indication to carry out euthanasia, unless a doctor can come up with a well-founded case were a patient suffers psychologically and the situation is unbearable and hopeless.

A crew form the Scottish BBC program Eòrpa travels to the Netherlands interview and portray specialists, a family doctor and people that experienced an euthanasia case of a person that suffered from senile dementia.

For this background reportage Featurez gave advice, did the research, set-up and planning of the filming, booked a rental van and did the driving, accompanied the filming, did the interviews and translations.
