Because of huge problems with rioting football supporters in Switzerland, resulting in serious vandalism in trains, a team from the Swiss Federal Railways visits the Netherlands to see how the Dutch transport supporters by train.
For many years the Dutch have the so-called ‘Combi-arrangement’. In this system football supporters are transported in trains from the Dutch railways, but it is all financed by the football clubs. Including the possible damage.
Totally screened off by fences, steel tunnels and roll-down shutters, and accompanied by special riot police and security teams, the supporters cannot riot or damage trains anymore. If they do, they will not be allowed to join the trip to the next away game of their team anymore.
For a background reportage for the Swiss public TV program ’10 vor 10′ senior reporter Marc Messchenmoser travels along with the Combi-arrangement train trip from football club Feyenoord Rotterdam to a match at PSV Eindhoven. A scoop, because it is the first time a cameraman is allowed to travel along with supporters in the Combi-arrangement train.
Marc Messchenmoser interviews the delegation form the Swiss railways, a spokesperson from the Dutch railways, the chief of the Dutch railway police, the coordinator of Supporters Affairs and several supporters from football club Feyenoord.
Although Feyenoord loses the game with 10-0 no riots or damage to trains are reported.
For this background reportage Featurez gave advice, did the research, set-up and planning of the filming, booked a camera crew, accompanied the filming, organised extra archive footage and accompanied the satellite feed.
