Because the Dutch Lower house is debating a law proposal to legalise euthanasia a reporter from the Swiss public TV channel Schweizer Fernsehen travels to the Netherlands to film for a reportage for the news program Tagesschau.
In the reportage Herbert Cohen, a family doctor also working in a cancer hospital, is portrayed and interviewed. He was one of the pioneers from the early days of euthanasia who intelligently and inimitably performed and introduced the euthanasia and that was prosecuted for it, but the high-profile trial that followed ended in acquittal.
Also the director from the Dutch association for voluntary euthanasia Rob Jonquière is interviewed and a daughter that accompanied the euthanasia of her mother explains how human and peaceful it was. In a hospice doctor Rita Plomp van Harmelen states that to her dying is last phase of inner growth’ and that she rejects Euthanasia, because it is an unnatural step in the dying process.
For this reportage Featurez gave advice, did the research, set-up and planning and accompanied the filming.
