Dutch fight against soft drug tourism

After Bergen op Zoom and Roosendaal, two Dutch cities along the border with Belgium, indicated to close all coffee shops within two years to fight drugs tourism, a special cannabis summit is organised.

The mayors of cities with coffee shops meet to discuss the problems with drugs tourism and with handling the complicated practice of the Dutch soft drugs policy.

The international background reportage Weltspiegel from the first German public TV channel ARD travels to the Netherlands to check out the situation in Bergen op Zoom and in Maastricht. The mayors of the town Dutch border towns explain why they fight soft drugs tourism and a policeman from a special task force gives an interview about the fight against illegal cannabis cultivation. A coffee shop owner in Maastricht gives his views about the new plan and about his uncertain future.

For this reportage Featurez gave advice, did the research, set-up and planning and accompany the filming.
