Crash Flight MH17: When grief turns to anger

The national mourning in the Netherlands after the downing of flight MH17 is turning towards anger and frustration as the investigation on-site continues to face obstacles. For many in the Netherlands, the repatriation of bodies of the victims is proceeding too slowly. They believe Moscow is responsible for the downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight.

For Deutsche Welle filming reporter Oliver Glasenapp comes to the Netherlands to find out how society is coping with the tragic plane crash in Ukraine. People are still visiting commemoration sites at the Amsterdam airport and at the military complex where an international team of experts is working on the identification of the victims.

A Dutch journalist explains what the reactions of the Dutch people were and how the anger was expressed on Twitter. Someone from the organisation that supports the relatives of the victims explains what is important to do at short notice and a colleague of the famous aids researcher Joep Lange, who was also among the victims, explains what important role Lange played in providing cheap aids medicines to the poor and a scientist from the Institute of International Law from the University of Amsterdam is giving his views on what the Dutch can do to determine, find and punish the offenders and what sanctions can be taken.

For this production Featurez gave advice, did the research, setup and planning, did the driving, accompanied the filming, did vox pops and translations.

This background reportage is published on the Featurez.com video page.
