Asylum seekers center in former Dutch jail

Over the last years the Dutch partly managed to process the large influx by using former jails to house refugees and immigrants.

France3 visits an asylum seekers centre in the former jail the Grittenborgh in the eastern town Hoogeveen. The location manager of the centre, and former employee of the jail, gives a tour through the complex to show how the immigrants are accommodated.

The bars in front of the windows and part of the prison wall have been removed. The inhabitants of the asylum seekers centre do not mind at all that they live in a former jail. Soon most of them will get a permit and will be offered a normal house.

For this reportage Featurez gave advice, did the research, set up and planning, accompanied the filming and did translations.
