Antisemitism in the Netherlands

The end of 2003 the Dutch organisation Central Jewish Consultation organises a demonstration against the increasing anti-Semitism in The Netherlands. Because of the cruel politics of Ariel Sharon in Israel and the second Golf War in Iraq, the Dutch Jews say they are confronted with a rise in anti-Semitism. Besides Jewish organisations also Muslim and Christian organisations and members of local councils participate in the protest.

For a reportage for the documentary program Weltjournal from the Austrian public TV broadcaster ORF, senior reporter Alexander Steinbach travels to the Netherlands for a reportage about antisemitism and ant-Israel outings in the Netherlands. He interviews orthodox and progressive Dutch Jews, attends a commemoration of the Kristall Nacht, where he also interviews Driss el Boujoufi, the chairman form the Union of Moroccan Muslim Organizations in the Netherlands, goes to the premier of a documentary about the Israeli wall, portrays a rabbi in his synagogue and interviews Dutch historian Gerard Aalders and political scientist Meindert Fennema.

For this production Featurez gave advice, did the research, set-up and planning of the filing, booked a camera crew, accompanied filming, did some of the interviews and translations.
