Suddenly a discussion arises in England to change the urban design. New theories proof that when cars, bicycle and pedestrians are existing closer together without any guidance, cars slow down and pedestrians are far more aware what happens around them. The future formula seems to be to take away the traffic signs.
Since the Dutch already have some experience with the new approach, BBC reporter Robert Hull travels to the Netherlands for the BBC evening news to see how taking away traffic signs works in practice. He interviews traffic specialist Hans Monderman at a roundabout in the town Makkinga in the Dutch province Friesland. All the traffic signs have been removed at the roundabout and Monderman explains what the positive effects are and how road users are encouraged to pay more attention to each other.
The reportage is edited on location and during the 22.00 hours news Robert Hull does a live stand-up.
For this production Featurez did the research, set up and planning, accompanied the filming for the reportage, the editing and the live stand-up.
