After the brutal murder on the controversial film director and columnist Theo van Gogh, the Dutch society is in a shock. Islamic schools and mosques burn down and around the murder site people of all kinds of cultural backgrounds are debating constantly.
The background reportage program Weltjournal from the Austrian public TV broadcaster ORF, sends reporter Lorenz Gallmetzer to measures the social temperature through the eyes of locals, migrants and analysts.
Gallmetzer interviews commentator Pieter Hilhorst in is house just around the corner of the location where Van Gogh was murdered. He also portrays and interviews Driss El Boujoufi, vice-president of the Union of Moroccan Muslim Organisations in the Netherlands and Gijs van de Westelake, movie producer and friend of Theo Van Gogh just before the start of the funeral service.
