Over the last years the cultivation of fish on land is seriously increasing. One of the most striking Dutch companies that breeds fish on land is ‘Happy Shrimps’. It cultivates large exotic shrimps in the Rotterdam harbour by using the surplus heat of a power plant.
Besides the shrimps the company also wants to start the cultivation of glasswort, using the same aquarium and the excrements of the shrimp as fertilizer.
For the program ’10 vor 10’ Europe correspondent Christoph Nufer form the Swiss public TV broadcaster Schweizer Fernsehen produces a background reportage about the increase of companies that breed fish ashore.
