Although homosexuality is very accepted in the Netherlands, and Amsterdam is often seen as the gay capital of Europe, it is still a taboo in Dutch old people’s homes. Elderly homosexuals fear the moment they become in need of care.
The L.A. Rieshuis in Amsterdam is the first retirement home for gays and lesbians in the world.
