While the Japanese society is recovering from the last earthquake, the tsunami and the disaster with the Fukushima nuclear power plants, reporter Ryusuke Kimura from the Japanese public TV channel NHK is send on a trip through Europe to investigate the actual situation in the European Energy market and how it is organised.
In Switzerland Kimura checks out the way the Swiss make electricity with hydropower, in Germany he researches the new policy to abandon the use of nuclear power and in the Netherlands he investigates how the liberalisation of the energy market turned out.
Ryusuke Kimura interviews the director general from the Dutch ministry of economic affairs, the managing director of and a client of a Dutch gas and electricity company. Besides this he visits a modern incineration plant that supplies local sustainable heat to heat connected homes and buildings.
Besides this Ryusuke Kimura interviews a spokesperson from transmission system operator Tennet, that operates over 25,000 kilometres of high-voltage lines and cables in the Netherlands and Germany, at a location where drilling is taking place for an underground energy cable. He also interviews an energy specialist at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael.
