‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ is an Australian television documentary reality series, part of the international franchise and adaptation of the original British series on BBC, airing on SBS One. Each episode profiles a celebrity tracing their family tree.
In this episode Australian actress Rachel Griffiths is taken to the places where her ancestors lived and worked in London, the Dutch city Leiden and the German town Kleve.
Griffiths’s journey into the past takes her back to the re-emergence of Judaism in 17th century England. She discovered that her eight-time grandfather was one of the best known Jewish capitalists in London – associated with the Royal Exchange, the Bank of England, and the British East India Company. But his business interests extended further afield, and Rachel learns he was engaged in the international slave trade.
In the Netherlands Rachel Griffiths visits the Leiden University archive and does a bike tour in the centre. In the German town Kleve, she meet an old man that knows more about her past, she visits the Museum Kurhaus and the Moyland castle.
For this production Featurez gave advice, did research and setup for the filming in the Netherlands and Germany, booked a rental van and rental car and an extra driver, did the driving, accompanied the filming, did translations and organised the signing of release forms.
