For the first time since the Second World War, the Netherlands has implemented a curfew as one of the corona virus measures. A decision that triggered riots in the country’s largest cities: Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Rotterdam.
In a working-class district of Rotterdam, the traces of violence are still visible. Like at a ransacked jewellery store, where the police are looking for possible fingerprints left by the breakers.
As a strong symbol, in this country unaccustomed to such scenes, the police station is barricaded. The night before its windows were targeted by mortar fire. The inhabitants are torn between anger and incomprehension.
