THE EUROPEAN FINE ART FAIR
The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF Maastricht) is acclaimed as the world's most prestigious art and antiques fair - attracting over 200 of the most eminent international dealers from 14 countries. It will open its doors from March 4 to 13th, 2005, in the 27,000 m2 (290,000 sq ft) exhibition area of the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Center).
The diversity of the exquisite pieces at TEFAF is beyond compare. The Fair built its reputation with Flemish and Dutch Old Masters. Today, Italian, Spanish, French, German and English old master paintings are also well represented, together with an impressive selection of Modern Art, which covers over 3,000 m2 (32,000 sq ft). In addition, there is a dazzling choice of medieval manuscripts; maps; coins; French, English and Italian furniture; classical antiquities and Egyptian works of art; Asian, African and South American objects; porcelain; silver; jewellery and 20th century furniture - all in one amazing venue! The quality and range of work on display rivals that of many museums.
Antiques & Works of Art is the largest section at TEFAF Maastricht. Here collectors can find an extraordinary treasury of beautiful, important and rare items by some of the most highly regarded designers and makers from the last five centuries. There is fine French and other furniture; Oriental and European ceramics; textile arts; silver and jewellery; sculpture; glass; clocks and watches.
Rare and wonderful objects from the ancient world are to be found in the Classical Antiquities & Egyptian Works of Art section, giving collectors the opportunity to view and buy some of the very finest pieces.
The Illuminated Manuscripts, Rare Books & Maps section contains exquisitely decorated mediaeval tracts, rare manuscripts from private libraries and 20th-century livres illustrés.
The 20th-Century Art section is a showcase for exceptional modern paintings, sculptures and drawings. Works of outstanding quality by many of the century's leading artists, including Picasso, Ernst, Magritte, Mondrian, Calder, and Richter, are exhibited by some of the world's most respected international dealers.
Leading international jewellers show their latest designs in the glittering La Haute Joaillerie du Monde section. Fabulous gems chosen for their quality and colour are used with dazzling effect to create some of the most glamorous jewellery in the world. more features
